1913 – The original office innovations
Our roots in innovative workplace organisation trace back to 1913, when 13 Swedish printing and graphic businesses joined forces to create the company SLT.
1970 – Enhancing our reach
After over 55 years in business as SLT, in 1970 our company renamed itself Esselte. Proudly wearing our new name, we developed by acquiring several high-profile international brands.
At the end of the 20th century, we also welcomed Leitz, Germany's largest office supplier and inventor of the Lever Arch File, to our Esselte family.
2000 – Strong and focused
Around 2000 we solidified our position as market leader in organisational products. In 2002 the US private equity investment firm J.W. Childs purchased Esselte.
With our renewed focus on innovations, we acquired the world-renowned stapling and fixation specialist brand Rapid, and Xyron the brand for creative people.
Tomorrow is ours
Our future success relies on our unique family of brands and their relationships with consumers: they are our impetus and inspiration for creating efficient organsation solutions.
You already know the face of our brands from smart shop fronts, engaging catalogues, and fresh-looking e-commerce. But the employees of our company is our lean culture, our commitment to reduce waste and drive efficiency across all manufacturing and administrative sites.
By continually producing new and exciting organisation solutions, our outstanding team empowers us to thrive in a world of constant change. Esselte: Innovators in organisation for 100 years – and many more to come.
